E.NOVATION AND SENTILLION COOPERATE ON SINGLE SIGN-ON
Partnership between E.Novation and Sentillion
Capelle aan den IJssel (the Netherlands) / Andover, MA (USA), 17 July 2008 – IT service provider E.Novation has entered into a partnership with the US healthcare identity and access management specialist Sentillion. The partnership entails that E.Novation will sell the Sentillion suite from its European offices in the Benelux, France and Great Britain. The Sentillion suite is a comprehensive set of solutions for single sign-on, user provisioning, clinical workstations and virtualized remote access. “Endless logins and selection of patients within each individual application will be a thing of the past,” stresses E.Novation’s Sales Manager Sven Walraven.
Sentillion and E.Novation met earlier this year at the HIMSS international healthcare show in Orlando and discovered that their expertise perfectly matched. Sentillion’s software suite is used by 350,000 healthcare providers in the US and Great Britain every day, while E.Novation has been the market leader in communications and integration solutions in the healthcare sector for over 25 years. “In E.Novation we have found a partner highly regarded in the healthcare sector as an IT service provider whose area of operations comprises a number of European countries. This gives us the opportunity to distribute our products further across Europe,” explains Sentillion Vice-President for Worldwide Channel Sales John Gobron.
Time savings
Walraven believes that this partnership is perfectly in line with E.Novation’s goals. “The provision of these products reflects our aim to optimize procedures by means of automation. The priority in all sectors is increased efficiency. Sentillion’s software enables its users to make enormous time savings because they don’t need to log in repeatedly,” Walraven emphasizes.
The single sign-on product expreSSO™ is a particularly important addition to E.Novation’s portfolio, as it means that users will only need to log in once to gain direct access to all applications for which they have authorization, whereas they currently need to log into each individual application separately. “This can help hospitals realize major time savings if you consider how many applications a specialist opens during the course of a day in order to view or update medical data,” says Walraven.
Interface with UZI card
The pertinence of a single sign-on solution for the Dutch healthcare market has been enhanced by the implementation of the National Switchpoint (LSP) and the simultaneous introduction of the Unique Healthcare Identification (UZI) card. This card is used to authorize healthcare providers to request medical data via the LSP. If a healthcare institution uses a single sign-on solution, healthcare providers can log in using their UZI card and subsequently use any application, even if they do not support the UZI card. Walraven believes that “the UZI card will in any case give all healthcare providers a new authorization tool, which represents an ideal opportunity for them to optimize procedures by means of a single sign-on solution.”
Avoiding human errors
Aside from the single sign-on solution expreSSO, E.Novation has high expectations of Vergence® – a desktop integration solution which combines single sign-on with context management.Vergence makes sure that a patient selected in an application is also selected immediately in all other open applications being used by a healthcare provider. This ensures that a healthcare provider has access to all data of a particular patient in all relevant applications, thus avoiding human errors such as the accidental swapping of patient data. Vergence operates with any application through the use of bridges or connectors which interface directly with the applications without involvement from the application suppliers. . E.Novation also carries the solutions proVision™ and vThere™ – a tool for user administrators and remote workstations that delivers a remote workstation solution on a USB stick or DVD respectively.
Other markets
Given the background of the partnership companies, the healthcare sector is an obvious choice for E.Novation and Sentillion as their primary market. However, Walraven says that they will not limit themselves to this market. “Sentillion’s solutions can be deployed generically. We have also noticed the large amount of time lost and errors made in other markets as a result of different login procedures being used for different applications, and have therefore decided to introduce the Sentillion suite on other markets.” In addition to the healthcare industry, E.Novation also provides its solutions within the transport & logistics and financial services sectors. For both sectors, E.Novation will investigate the options for introducing the Sentillion solutions.
